Swan Song

Hey folks,

So some of you have been asking what’s up with us - and mostly I’ve been telling everyone that we were taking a break to write some new tunes, which, initially, was in fact the plan. However, after that didn’t happen, we realized that it’s been about a year since we’ve written a new song. That, coupled with the fact that our guitarist, Shawn Mackenzie, is a big ol’ smarty pants and got accepted to every grad school he applied to in various spots around Canada and will be moving away in the next few months, we’ve decided to officially call it quits.

Shawn moving is a huge factor, but mostly, speaking for myself (I’m not sure if the rest of the guys feel the same way, but I’m the one writing and I babble on a lot, so you’re subject to my thoughts - sorry) I feel like we kind of took it as far as we could go. We’ve played some great shows and met some amazing people, but I think it’s time to move on. A big thanks to the folks at Music Nova Scotia and Halifax Pop Explosion for letting us play their festival/showcases this year - it was a huge blast and we’re really grateful that you guys let us be a part of it. Also huge thanks to the folks who reviewed our stuff and wrote about us and especially The Coast for putting us in the Best New Bands feature last year. Huge thanks to CKDU and definitely CJAM for getting us a #1 spot that one week for playing the shit out of us - that was pretty cool. Big ups to Rockin’ for Dollars for being awesome. Thanks to the awesome bands we got the pleasure to play with, especially Miesha and the Spanks, The Motorleague, The Blackrats (with a special thanks to SandE) and Gloryhound, and all the members we’ve had over the last 2 years or so - Jordan Murphy, Shawn Mackenzie, Ben Manuel, Scott Nicks (who, oddly enough, played keyboards for 2 practices in a very early incarnation of the band where we just played Yeah Yeah Yeahs covers for like an hour) and Matt Grace.

We’re going to be playing one last show in Halifax July 27th with our friends from Montreal - Ol’ School Jonny - and some great Halifax bands - Eliza and the Strange and Holy Snappers. We’re hopefully gonna be playing Moncton one last time, too, that same weekend.

We’ve still got some shirts and CDs that I’d like to unload so I can finally crumple up and recycle the big brown box they came in, so if you want one - CDs are $5 and shirts are $15 (but I’m flexible on that).

Anyway, thanks to everyone who liked our songs and came to our shows. We weren’t around that long and we didn’t really do anything too spectacular, but it was a great time, so thanks for the memories and the fun party times.

Oh and my name isn’t Audrey. Remind me never to call any future bands a name that isn’t my own so that people don’t think my name is something other than what it is.

Love,
Chantal

Gloryhound Interview

Our buddies in Gloryhound got interviewed by Saint John’s “The Scene” and they gave us a bit of a shout out!

They’re going to be opening up for Deep Purple during their Maritime dates! Holy shit!

Read the whole interview and make sure to listen to their tunes HERE.

I have their album Electric Dusk playing constantly - catchy, high energy rock ‘n’ roll. It’s all anyone needs.

We just got word that our SOCAN application got approved! All the documents are signed and ready to go - look at us, being responsible!
